As you may already have heard, I will be retiring at the
end of this year and Eric Herz Harpsichords, Inc. will be closing its doors. After more
than four decades and almost 500 instruments, I think the time has come to draw this stage
of my career to a close.
It has always been important to me that the shop be
available to owners of my instruments for overhauls, repairs, parts, and advice. Now that
I will no longer fill that role, I am delighted to report that I have arranged for Hubbard
Harpsichords to do so. Should you need any work done on your instruments, I strongly
recommend bringing it to Hubbard. The Hubbard shop will have my drawings, construction
information, and customer records and will maintain a stock of Herz parts, and I will be
available to them for consultations. Needless to say, I have complete confidence in the
quality of their work.
To build harpsichords for a living has been a wonderful
privilege. Of course, it could not have been possible had no one actually bought the
instruments. You have my great thanks for your interest and support. I hope that your
instrument is treating you well and that it will be a source of pleasure for many years to
come.
